Associate Professor Jake Shortt is a Consultant Haematologist at Monash Health, and the Head of HaematologyStudy of the blood. Research at Monash University School of Clinical Sciences. He is the clinical lead at Monash for leukaemia and myelodysplasia. He is a Principal Investigator on both industry-sponsored and academic (investigator initiated) clinical trials in leukaemia, myelodysplasia, lymphomaKnown as a blood cancer, it is cancer of the white blood cells. and myeloma. He is on the steering committee of the Australasian Lymphoma and Related Diseases Registry, the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group (ALLG) and chairs the ALLG Laboratory Sciences Committee. His research in the ‘Bloodhello CancerA disease where abnormal cells split without control and spread to other nearby body tissue and/or organs. Cancer cells can also spread to other parts of the body through the bloodstream and lymph systems. Therapeutics Laboratory’ in the Monash Health Translation Precinct is focused on developing new treatments for myeloma and lymphoma. Associate Professor Shortt’s research is supported by grants from the NHMRC, Victorian Cancer Agency, Snowdome Foundation and Cancer Council of Victoria.
